Pour Casting - 5th September
Low tech, organic and addictive. Learn how to make a small crucible from compressed charcoal and use it to open cast sterling silver into a variety of organic materials to create pieces with a variety of exciting textures - sand, salt, chick peas, rice and even plain cold water will all give different results. You can choose to spend some time in the class creating a pair of earrings or a pendant from your castings or spend the entire class creating casts. You'll be working with casting grain in the workshop but this is an excellent technique to learn to make use of your precious metal scrap.

Who is this class suitable for?
Beginners to intermediate makers
What will I make?
You will make at least two or three casts and have a variety of casting materials to choose from. You can incorporate your castings into a wearable piece - pendant or earrings - if you want to or spend more time creating castings.
What will I learn?
You will learn to prepare and shape a block of compressed charcoal to create a small crucible suitable for use with a hand held torch. You'll learn how to weigh and prepare you metal and how to safely and confidently pour cast your molten metal. If you need support and tuition in turning your castings into jewellery we will teach you that as well.
What is included?
All tools and equipment are provided. Your class fee includes 10 grams of sterling silver casting grain with more available to buy on the day or you are welcome to bring your own

If you cancel your booking one month or more before the class begins you will receive a 50% refund.
