Learn to prepare sterling silver and fuse 24k gold to the surface to create a beautiful melding of metals. Choose to keep your silver polished or oxidise for a dark contrast to the gold highlights. Create a set of samples or something more finished. The perfect way to add a little luxury to your work.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Who is this class suitable for?
Intermediate and experienced makers. You will get more from this class if you have experience of using basic silver smithing tools.
What will I make?
You will make some sample piece of Keum Boo work which can be made into earrings or a pendant on the day or can be taken away to be finished in your own workshop if you prefer.
What will I learn?
You will be taught how to prepare your metals and apply the 24ct gold foil to fine silver through heating and burnishing to create a permanent bond. You'll also learn depletion gilding - a technique which allows Keum Boo to be applied to sterling silver. You'll explore texturing, shaping and patterning methods.What is included?
All tools and equipment are included. A piece of Fine silver approx 3x4cm (enough to complete each of the three projects) and a piece of 24ct gold foil measuring approx 1.25x3.5cm. A trace chain and ear findings are also provided for you to leave with one (or more!) finished piece of jewellery.
Extra materials will be available to buy on the day and you are welcome to bring some with you.
