Suitable for makers at all levels, this six week, Thursday evening, course will introduce you to the things you need to know to take your jewellery from bench to business. Each week you will focus on a different area of making and selling jewellery and leave with a plan to work from.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

 

Who is this class suitable for?

All levels. It will suit those who are intending to sell their work as a side hustle, part time or full time business. .

What will I make?

You'll spend the course writing an informal 'business plan'. Expanding your business knowledge and skills and applying them to your work and your business idea. You'll finish the course with a plan to start selling when you are ready..

What will I learn?

You will learn about the different areas you need to consider when starting out as a new selling jeweller. 

Week One: Your vison, values and goals for your business. What do you want your business to look like? Waht do you want to acheive and why. 

Week Two: Making to sell. How to adapt your work, workspace, process and mindset from making for pleasure to making for profit.

Week Three: Income Streams. Where, how and who you are selling to.  Wholesale and sale or return, approaching stockists, attending fairs and events, websites and online sales platforms, taking commissions and bespoke orders. 

Week Four:  Admin and Accounts. What you need to sell legally and logically. We'll cover the basics of insurance, tax, record keeping, banking and accounts. 

Week Five: Build Your Brand. How to promote and present your work. Marketing and promotion. Social and printed media. Product photography, logos and business names. 

Week Six: Writing your plan. You'll put everything you have learned over the past five weeks into a step by step action plan and get your business started.

What is included?

You'll get a handful of handouts each week, with plenty of space to add your own notes, exercises to fill in and homework to complete.

    The class requires a minimum of five participants to run. If the class doesn't run you will receive a full refund.

    If you cancel your booking one month or more before the class begins you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are available once the course has begun.

    All tools are provided along with a selection of base metals and findings. If you want to work in silver or gold this can be available to purchase at the class or shopping advice can be offered. If you have specific requirements or interests let me know so they can be accommodated.
