Explore Earrings - 13th July
Explore earrings in this one day workshop with Alys. You could make three stand alone pairs or a little curated collection to wear together. You'll start but creating a pair of simple silver studs or ear climbers - shaping and texturing the metal and solding on a secure stud pin. Then move onto a pair of hoops earrings, learning to measure and cut the wire, adding a hammered texture detail and a secure stud fastening. You'll finish by creating a pair of dangly earrings in Alys signiture style or to your own design - cutting the shape from sheet metal,, adding surface details and decorations and creating a pair of bespoke hand formed ear hooks. We might even have to time to create a little ear cuff to complete your set. As ever we are flexible so if you want to focus on one style for the entire day we can support you in that.

Who is this class suitable for?
Beginners to Improvers - or any jeweller who wants to experiment
What will I make?
You will make at least three pairs of solid silver earrings. One pair of suds, one pair of hoops and one pair of drop earrings. If you have time you might make some ear cuffs or climbers too.
What will I learn?
You'll learn how to use traditional jewellers tools and technqiues to work in precious metals. You'll use a jewellers saw to cut and shape and a blow torch to solder your elements together. You'll learn how to make your own ear hooks from silver wire and how to successfully solder on a stud pin or climber pin. You'll learn about different shapes and designs of ear hooks, how to make a solid or drop stud and all the variations you can use to create your own designs.
What is included?
All tools and equipment are provided. Enough silver (or copper or brass if you prefer) to make at least three pairs of earrings is included in your class fee with more available to buy on the day.

If you cancel your booking one month or more before the class begins you will receive a 50% refund.
