SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER JEWELLERS CREATIVE JOURNEY SIX WEEK COURSE - MORNINGS
Complement your technical skills with this six week Monday morning course in jewellery inspiration, creativity and design. Learn some of the different design processes professional jewellers use to create their work and apply them to your own work.
The course will support you in designing and developing ideas, and original designs and will compliment your existing (and future) making skills.

Week Two: Record, Annotate, Make A Mark, Materials
Week Three: Identify & Select, Respond, Combine & Refine, Design Briefs
Week Four: Design & Develop, Form & Function, Findings, Scale, Materials
Week Five: Models & Mock-ups, Describe & Develop, Rendering
Week Six: Process & Practice, Trials & Tests, Technical Notes
The course follows the format of my 2021 book Jewellers Creative Journal. Be led through the chapters and supported with in class discussions, exercies, activities and feedback. Each student will recieve a complimentary copy.

What will I make?
In this class that depends on you!! The class will introduce you to a variety of design processes. Starting with your initial themes and inspirations you will create a visual source book full of notes, ideas, drawings and designs to guide and inspire your future work.
What will I learn?
You will learn to develop your own personal design style and process. You'll be introduced to some of the techniques professional jewellers use to record and explore their ideas and be guided in beginning your own design sketchbook. You'll explore how to gather and keep inspiration, how to take apart your ideas and recognise the components and connections. We'll use mark making, collage, modelling and a variety of methods to take you from initial ideas to final designs.
What is included?
All tools and equipment are provided. You'll be given a sketchbook to fill with your ideas, notes, drawings and designs. To get the most from this class there will be a little bit of homework each week.

The class requires a minimum of five participants to run. If the class doesn't run you will receive a full refund.
If you cancel your booking one month or more before the class begins you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are available once the course has begun.
All tools are provided along with a selection of base metals and findings. If you want to work in silver or gold this can be available to purchase at the class or shopping advice can be offered. If you have specific requirements or interests let me know so they can be accommodated.
